‘Tis the season to relax in front of the television with a cozy blanket and a feel-good rom-com. Through extensive research over the years, I have curated a list of romantic comedies that will get you into the holiday spirit. As of today, these are all available to watch on Netflix. (Because who needs other streaming services?) A couple are holiday-related, a couple are not. Either way, they will leave you smiling at the end.

5. The Princess Switch (2018)

Rotten Tomatoes: 64%
Camille’s Rating: B-

This movie is a combination of The Parent Trap and The Princess Diaries. A Chicago baker (played by Vanessa Anne Hudgens) switches places with a prince’s fiancé (also played by Vanessa Anne Hudgens but with an accent), and somehow no one notices. If you enjoy Hallmark Channel movies and are in the mood for something cheesy, this is a good one to watch.

4. Holiday in the Wild (2019)

Rotten Tomatoes: 38%
Camille’s Rating: B+

Kristin Davis (aka Charlotte York from Sex in the City) and Rob Lowe (yes, that Rob Lowe) make a solid romantic duo. A newly divorced woman travels to Africa on a solo second honeymoon, where she meets a handsome pilot and rescues a baby elephant. Filmed in Zambia, this is a good movie for those with wanderlust after being cooped up all year (thank you 2020).

3. The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)

Rotten Tomatoes: 86%
Camille’s Rating: A-

Okay. This movie is not so happy-go-lucky, but it’s a coming-of-age film that is worth a watch, especially for those of us who felt like misfits in high school. Charlie, the protagonist, is a wallflower who is always watching life from the sidelines until he meets Sam (aka Emma Watson, who shines in this film) and her stepbrother Patrick. By the way, the book is also excellent.

2. To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020)

Rotten Tomatoes: 75%
Camille’s Rating: A

Oh, Lara Jean Covey, how I love you, too. In this endearing sequel, Lara Jean has not one but two romantic interests, and you will fall in love with both of them as you watch this movie (while feeling like a pedophile if you’re over the age of 16). The first movie, “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before,” is also streaming on Netflix.

1. About Time (2013)

Rotten Tomatoes: 69%
Camille’s Rating: A+

At the age of 21, Tim Lake learns from his father (aka Bill Nighy) that the men of his family have the secret ability to travel back in time. Of course, Tim uses this superpower to find love (with none other than Rachel McAdams). With its brilliant acting and unique storyline, this is a movie that I can watch over and over again. (But where’s my superpower to time travel out of 2020?)
